To have a dream:
We as a race of people have at one time or another hoped and dreamed and even prayed to try and make this big beautiful planet a home for all the persons that live upon it, but as we are all human we tend to make mistakes along the way. Today marks the 50th anniversary of a landmark speech given on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
Martin Luther King Jr. marched on Washington D.C. on Aug. 28, 1963 and delivered his 'I Have a Dream' speech in front of over 250,000 civil rights supporters. It was a call to end racism and setting America's standards higher. King's dream was a wake-up call for higher ethics, and it still resonates today.
Having good ethics is not only something people needed in the 60s and still to this day, but something organizations, businesses, social groups, and even churches need too. As a person going through your daily walk of life you may not be marching and delivering a speech about how you feel things should be or the way you feel you should conduct yourself and your business, but constructing a code and making sure your family and loved ones understand it, is something you should be doing.
Martin Luther King's speech served as a code of ethics to strive for. It was a reminder that we need to be better, and the speech helped shape America. That's what your code of ethics needs to be. It may not have the reach that King's speech had, but just reaching someone; Anyone is important enough.
