My fellow Knights,
I first wanted to thank you all who were able to make the trip back to Camelot last Friday.
I think we all had a good time and had a chance to meet some new members and once again see old ones as well as partake of some good refreshments and share in some laughter and jokes. We were able to tour the new additions to the castle and get a glance of what our new web site looks like (which is still a work in progress), thanks to Sir Perceval.
Everyone received the Knights package with all the pertinent information on who we are and what we are about. We also started a bank account and collected funds for our initial deposit, Thank you Sir Galahad.
We had thoughtful and invoking conversation we had questions brought forth and we ended the night with great rousing fun at a gentlemen’s tavern where we treated like true celebrities. But most importantly, the following Knights were initiated into Knighthood, Merlin, Sir Percivale, Sir Galahad, Sir Garwaine, and King Arthur/Richard the Lionhearted. These men have stepped into becoming the great men God always knew they could be.
We also had some tragedy and trickery befall us.Will Selby, the good Green Knight, was unable to be there due to an illness.Now I know that the Devil is busy and he has a way of sometimes making a great man forget his own power within to change his own circumstances, but this is a battle Will needs to fight on his own. But until then we will pray and stand in the gap for him and he will always have his place as one of the chosen seven of the Great KOTBT. Knight Sir Eric/David Reyes was also unable to attend due to some family issues requiring his immediate attention. Although these two men have not been knighted, they are still a part of the chosen seven and will always be a part of KOTBT, but until they are knighted, they will not be one of the anointed. Regarding the name, there have been some concerns expressed regarding its meaning. “The Knights of the Brown Table” had negative connotations pertaining to gay men and their lifestyles, as you know none of us are gay and none of us engage in gay lifestyles, but I am not degraded the homosexuality lifestyle or someone’s personal choice.KOTBT stands for all men of color and the name refers to the powerful MAHOGHANY wood created by God.
Now, because of my concerns about the Devil and his ploys to disrupt our meeting, I sought refuge with God and prayed for guidance and direction, He gave me some answers, so I am going to share them with you as He gave them to me.
1. As far as knight lore and lingo go. It is a (parable) we will follow some not all of how they lived.
2. Any of the chosen 7 which will become the original 13 and finally the core 25 can bring a person of interest that would like to be a member to the Knights and if we are all in agreement they will be but with an Anointed Knight and shown and trained in the ways of the KOTBT. Once they have completed their training, they will complete the knighting process with a knighthood ceremony.
I as King with the authority of the knights, retain the power to excuse any member who does not adhere to our standards. There would have to be a significant event to happen which would make us reconsider.
3. Quest may be brought to the table and asked for the group to commit, we may make that a priority and get on it right away or maybe just a part of it, or we may just say at this time we will put it under consideration or we may just say no. But in any event we will always give you a reason way.
4. Knights will always respect other knights and hold no animosity toward one another If you disagree talk to one another and WORK IT OUT.
5. There is no need to show or tell us about what you did in the past, we know you have done great things that’s why you are here. No need to share of your past conquests we were all young once. Talk about all that with one another when the meeting is over and we are all out together.
6. Our youth do appear a bit out of control, much different from how we were raised, but with a some guidance, direction, understanding and less prejudging, our leadership can help them achieve their goals.
7. As for us, we can always learn from our elders. I was once told by a great man, if you don’t know where you came from you won’t know where you’re going.
8. All meetings will be held at Camelot. Any other event to do with the Knights can and should be held at other locations if so desired. You all know the main Laws, Keep the Lord first respect all knights wives or significant others and be there for your brother.(simple)J
9. Dues so far $20.00 a meeting if we need to change it will talk about it then. Fellows this is not a social organization, it’s not a civic organization, or your local church It’s a mix of them all and a bit bigger… ITS WHAT WE MAKE IT. All I am saying Knights is be loud be proud and be heard no reserves, no retreats, no regrets.
We will go over more and add more later but now let’s enjoy and not get caught up in the minusha.
I just want to reiterate, I am so proud to be a part of this and be among such GREAT MEN.
Someone stated at the meeting that Richard is our King and as long as he continues to lead us in the RIGHT WAY we will always follow. That’s something you will never have to worry about because as long as the Lord our God guides me I will always be a straight shooter.
