What is the goal and purpose of the Knighthood?
"Our purpose shall be to foster and display an attitude of 'Chivalry' towards all women, and respect for all men." Our unique and distinct manifest shall be to live to become 'the total good man', one with knowledge, wisdom and enlightenment. We shall refrain from vulgar and profane thoughts and actions, thus becoming 'beacons of light' for those who observe, always 'knowing', "it is always better to give than to receive." What are the responsibilities of the Knights? The Knighted are all noble men, and as such they are responsible to their family, community and friends. They are also the instruments for carrying out the goals and objectives of the order. Each is asked to hold in highest regard and to live by "The Tenets of Chivalry" and "The Knights Code." All Knights should honor and uphold each other, assist others when in need, and strive to give aide and comfort to those that seek to be of service to the Realm or the Kingdom. The order selects and ordains as leader the most worthy individual to oversee and manage affairs of the Knighthood. Long Live the King !! Are the Knights of Chivalry a Religious Organization? The Knights of Chivalry are not a church or religion. However, you will find there is a thread of God and worship woven into the fabric of all of the things that we do. We do not discriminate or discourage anyone on the basis of their faith, but instead we assess individuals on their actions. We feel that it is important that faith should instruct what we do in our lives, and we allow others the same freedom. We do not seek to impose our beliefs on others, or dictate they should live only according to mandated doctrine; As a Knight of Chivalry, I believe that my God will guide my actions, and that the God you worship should guide yours." How does one become a member of the Knighthood? Individuals are invited to participate and become introduced to the order, As they become known and trusted friends, an invitation to become a "Member of the Order" may be extended, typically with an associated title. in due time the decree of Knighthood may be afforded and granted during a special "Knighting" ceremony. Are the Knights about Restoring Chivalry? Isn't it Dead? The word "Chivalry" is like the word "Travel". It's meaning is different today than in times past. Before, when people spoke of travel they meant horses and carriages, today we mean sports cars, dreamliner's, and space shuttles. And yet the idea of "travel" is the same. How will we get to where we wish to be. Likewise the notion of "Chivalry" is different today, but its essence continues. Its about how we conduct ourselves in todays society and the things we place value on. Some may see it as a relic of times gone by (a broken wagon wheel, resting alongside a superhighway). But Chivalry is just as relevant today as ever. The focus of the Knights is the embodiment of Chivalry in our modern era. No. Chivalry is not dead, It has matured, trained up, and put on the armor of experience. Time and history are always moving us forward to our ultimate destination, "Chivalry" is the way we choose to get there. |
